Mad Hed City (Kerwin Prescott, aka “Trilla”) – Official Bio
Kerwin Prescott, better known as Mad Hed City, is a powerhouse entertainer, singer, songwriter, producer, and videographer from Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago. Born on December 22nd, 1980, Kerwin grew up in Laventille, where his energy, raw talent, and love for the arts shaped his early years. From school choirs and stage plays to spontaneous lyrical battles, he quickly carved a name for himself as a bold and versatile voice.
Influenced by legends like Busta Rhymes, Beenie Man, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, and Notorious B.I.G., he fused hip hop, dancehall, and soca into his own high-energy, boundary-pushing style. Alongside his brother Kylon Prescott, he co-founded the group Fearless Crew, making waves with their debut track “Pace” produced by ShellShock. Their music carried them to major stages, performing with iconic bands such as Traffic, Roy Cape All Stars, Invasion, and The Asylum.
In 2013, Mad Hed City took his journey to the UK, where he spent five years breaking into the electronic music scene. There, he collaborated with The Prototypes, Jus Now, Stylo G, and Foreign Beggars, fusing his Caribbean roots with UK bass, drum & bass, and dancehall. During this period, he also worked with Fuse ODG on his global hit “Azonto (Remix)” with producers Jus Now, further tying Caribbean and Afrobeat cultures together.
Mad Hed City was also deeply involved with Trinidadian soca superstar Bunji Garlin, co-producing and shaping creative direction on the massive hit “Truck on the Road.” Not only was he instrumental in the record’s creation, but he also designed the artwork and helped spark the UK’s viral “Turn Up” dance craze with Bunji and Jus Now — a movement that reached BBC Radio 1 airwaves and cemented soca’s presence in the UK club scene. Some of this work was recorded at the legendary Maid of Vale Studios in London, adding another layer of prestige to his international story.
His breakout moment in the UK electronic scene came with “Pop It Off,” produced by The Prototypes — an award-winning track that has amassed millions of views across platforms. The song became a major anthem in sound system culture and was even featured in Red Bull Culture Clash, where Mad Hed City’s voice was showcased alongside global stars including Wiz Khalifa.
His cross-continental collaborations extended further when he worked with award-winning Ghanaian artist Epixode on the “Ghetto Anthem (Remix),” strengthening his reputation as a cultural bridge between the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
Between 2016 and 2018, he also collaborated with world champion DJ Shiftee, releasing music on Shiftee’s label and gaining recognition when Bajan superstar DJ Puffy remixed one of his tracks. This era highlighted his reach across the Caribbean and global DJ scenes. At the same time, he also produced for the legendary Freedom Williams of C+C Music Factory, proving his versatility across genres and generations.
Beyond music, Mad Hed City is also a videographer and director, filming and creating music videos that bring his unique vision to life. His filmmaking background strengthens his artistry, giving him control over both sound and visual storytelling.
As a solo artist, Mad Hed City evolved into a fiery blend of hardcore soca, dancehall, hip hop, Afrobeat, and UK bass — earning his nickname for the explosive delivery that lights up every stage. In recent years, he has stepped deeper into sound clash culture, recording dubplates and pushing the artform into new spaces. His voice and energy have become staples in the international clash arena, cementing his reputation as one of the few artists bridging soca, dancehall, and electronic music in a revolutionary way.
In 2025, Mad Hed City is at the forefront of a historic moment in reggae and dancehall. He is currently working with Singing Melody on his groundbreaking new album — producing some of the project’s leading tracks. Notably, he produced “Simply Magic” on the Rough JJ Rough Riddim, and co-produced with German producer Hi-One on “Dub Plate to a Sound Bwoy (Remix)”. These contributions showcase his evolution from performer to visionary producer, solidifying his place in both the Caribbean and international music industries.
Now working on groundbreaking collaborations with top producers and artists in Jamaica, the UK, Africa, Europe, and across the Caribbean, Mad Hed City is shaping a new chapter — one that honors his roots while pushing Caribbean music worldwide. From live performances to viral street anthems, to music videos and visuals he directs himself, he continues to inspire with creativity that is raw, fearless, and unapologetically real.
Mad Hed City isn’t just an artist — he’s a movement, a sound, and a culture all his own.
