Biography
Marsha Gomes-Mckie, is a multifaceted force in world of literature. Her journey weaves through storytelling, illustration, and advocacy, leaving an indelible mark on the literary landscape.
She wears two hats with finesse. As an author, she crafts tales that resonate with readers across genres. Her line of Children’s Books, known as Aunty Marsha Children’s Books, invites young minds to explore imaginative worlds. She is writing a Caribbean Middle Grade series called Mystikal Jacks, with her daughter, Christiana Mckie. She writes adult fantasy fiction and romance under the pen Martini Blu. She delves into Fiction, exploring love, intrigue, and the human experience. Her non-fiction work, Exploring Words, adds depth to her repertoire.
But that’s not all, Marsha also dons the hat of an illustrator and visual artist, breathing life into her narratives with vivid visuals. She illustrates all of her children’s books, covers, and standalone artworks using a vibrant blend of graphic design, line drawing, watercolour, acrylic painting, and mixed media. Her work has been exhibited at the National Museum and The Rotunda, reflecting her ability to bridge fine art and storytelling. Seamlessly merging literature and visual art, she has cultivated a distinctive style that captures the Caribbean imagination.
Marsha’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Aajumbee Publishing House. Under its banner, she publishes her books, ensuring they reach eager readers. Through her independent publishing venture, Marsha champions diverse voices and celebrates the magic of Caribbean mythology in storytelling.
Marsha’s commitment to literature extends beyond her own work to activism. She is the founder of the Caribbean Books Foundation. This platform connects Caribbean authors, celebrates their contributions, and fosters a sense of community. She is also the Regional Advisor for the Caribbean South Chapter of the Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
