Biography
My name is Kaliq Cook, and I am an actor and cultural performer dedicated to celebrating and preserving the rich artistic and traditional heritage of Trinidad and Tobago. For over five years, I have immersed myself in the performing arts, using theatre and cultural expression to tell stories that reflect our people, our values, and our unique sense of identity. I am a proud member of two distinguished cultural and theatrical groups — Eh Bien Oui Don Don and Torch Theatre Company. These affiliations have allowed me to refine my craft, collaborate with other talented creatives, and contribute to meaningful productions that showcase the strength and diversity of Trinidad and Tobago’s performing arts. My journey as an actor has been marked by both passion and accomplishment. I have actively participated in the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition, where my performances helped secure victories in the Folk Theatre category in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, I was also honoured with the award for Best Male All-Round Performer, a recognition that remains one of my proudest achievements. These experiences have strengthened my discipline, creativity, and love for the stage. In addition to my theatrical work, I portray traditional Carnival characters such as the Pierrot Grenade, Djab Molassie, and the Midnight Robber. I bring these characters to life both during Carnival and in educational presentations, helping to preserve their legacy and share their cultural significance with younger generations. As I continue to develop as an artist, my goal is to expand my work in theatre and film while continuing to advocate for the value of cultural education and performance. Through my art, I hope to inspire pride, curiosity, and appreciation for the traditions that make Trinidad and Tobago truly unique.
