Biography
Khion De Las holds a Masters in Music degree from the Northern Illinois University (USA), a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree, both from the University of the West Indies (T&T). For the past 7 years, Mr. De Las has been a lecturer in music at the Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) at the University of the West Indies. He directs the UWI Arts Jazz Ensemble and co-directs the UWI Arts Steel ensemble. Mr. De Las is a multi-instrumentalist and has been playing his primary instrument, the steelpan, for the past 27 years. He is also a music producer, songwriter and avid composer. He is a past member of the National Steel Symphony Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago and has travelled the world extensively to represent his country in the field of music. Khion De Las also holds a number of awards for community service, academic awards and awards for contributions to Trinbago culture. Mr. De Las has just completed his Legal Education Certificate (LEC) at the Hugh Wooding Law School. After being called to the bar as an attorney-at-law, he intends to specialise in Entertainment Law and Intellectual Property.
