Biography
Keir has been writing since her teens, and performing Spoken Word since 2013. In 2016 she joined the Griot Guild, a poetry group in Trinidad and Tobago who develop their writing and performance techniques by using a group of "attributes" inspired by table top and role play gaming. This was just her cup of tea, and soon her fellow poets were encouraging Keir to compete in local Slam.
She competed for the first time in 2016, where she was fortunate enough to be welcomed to the Semi-Final stage of the First Citizens National Poetry Slam. Following this achievement, Keir also auditioned in 2017, and continues to perform at open mic events when the opportunity to attend presents itself.
While she finds Slam competition invigorating, Keir's true passion is education, and more than any other experience, she has enjoyed blending her Spoken Word and writing talent with her teaching experience, to create lively and engaging workshops across various fields of social activism.
Like her Spoken Word poetry, Keir's arts education workshops often explore the messages in our culture that surround sex and sexuality, violence, and discrimination.
